Our Programs & Services

Many individuals face barriers to career advancement due to limited access to opportunity and exposure to high-demand industries. These challenges are often compounded by a lack of financial literacy and practical guidance needed to navigate career pathways and achieve long-term economic stability. Metro Hope STL bridges these gaps through hands-on learning, meaningful connections, and clear pathways to prosperity.

The readONE literacy campaign is a collaboration between Metro Hope, the East St. Louis School District and the community. In this effort, we engage community volunteers to help eliminate the literacy deficit of elementary school-aged students in East St. Louis, IL. Studies show a student not reading at his or her grade level by the end of the third grade is four times less likely to graduate high school on time–six times less likely for students from low-income families. A 2009 study by researchers at Northeastern University that found that high school dropouts were 63 times more likely to be incarcerated. Metro Hope STL is aiming to change this trajectory for the children of East St. Louis.
